How to become a Family Child Care (FCC) Provider

If the provider cares for up to six (6) children in the provider’s home, it is considered a Family Child Care site and encouraged to register with the Louisiana Department of Education. To apply to become a Family Child Care provider, please review the Family Child Care Application Instructions as a guide to complete and submit an application via EdLink.

Family Child Care (FCC) Providers

The Department made revisions to Bulletins 139 and 140 that allow Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP)-certified Family Child Care (FCC) providers to apply for Academic Approval, starting in the 2022-2023 academic year.

CCAP-certified FCCs who opt into Academic Approval will participate in the state’s quality rating system and become eligible for related incentives and supports, including:

  • School Readiness Tax Credits (SRTC);

  • CCAP bonus payments (if site is rated Proficient or higher);

  • Quality improvement supports;

  • And more!

To opt into Academic Approval for the current academic year, complete the 2024-2025 Program Partner Assurances (will open in new tab).

School Readiness Tax Credit (SRTC)

Please use the School Readiness Tax Credits (SRTC) Guidance as a tool of reference for claiming applicable tax credit(s). For all questions regarding SRTC, contact the Office of Early Childhood at the Louisiana Department of Education at EarlyChildhood@la.gov.
