Louisiana Act 541 (2022), the Computer Science Education Act, establishes the Computer Science Education Advisory Commission (CSEAC) to provide recommendations to the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education through the Department of Education for the development and implementation of a state action plan for the delivery of education in computer science in all public schools. These meeting materials are now archived at the advisory council webpage.
On October 11, 2023, the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) received CSEAC’s report and directed the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) to begin the process of creating a state plan for computer science education.
COMPUTER SCIENCE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE GRANT (CSTAG)
The Louisiana Department of Education is excited to announce the Computer Science Technical Assistance Grant (CSTSAG) call for applications. Recipients will utilize eGMS for reporting and reimbursement of grants up to $40,000 per school system. Applications are due by 5 p.m. CST on September 20, 2024. Applications will be reviewed and awards announced by October 1, 2024.
Recipients must meet the following criteria:
a) be a public or public charter school system located within Louisiana,
b) offer computer science opportunities for all students to access,
c) commit to offering instruction to students with computer science within the school day,
d) agree to complete all required data submissions and attend meetings requested by the LDOE, and
e) utilize all funds by June 30, 2025.

Computer Science Teacher Leader Advisor Applications - Open Now
LDOE’s Computer Science Teacher Leader Advisors (TLAs) are highly motivated educators who work alongside the Division of Academic Content to support Louisiana’s Education Priorities. Computer Science TLAs will serve an essential role in supporting the implementation of the Louisiana Student Standards for Computer Science by creating resources, engaging in work that develops an understanding of high quality curricula, and providing training for teachers. Interested educators should apply no later than August 30.

Public Comment Open for K-12 Louisiana Student Standards for Computer Science
The K-12 Computer Science Standards Writing Committee has successfully completed the development of Louisiana’s new computer science standards. Public comment on the draft K-12 Louisiana Student Standards for Computer Science is now open and will close Monday, September 30, at 4 p.m. Public comment will be shared with the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) on October 9, 2024.
