National Hearing to be held on Wednesday, July 17, at 9:15 a.m. CDT / 10:15 a.m. EDT; Live Video Stream and Prepared Remarks Available
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Louisiana Superintendent of Education John White on Wednesday morning will provide testimony regarding Louisiana's nationally recognized teacher preparation efforts during a Congressional joint hearing of the Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education and the Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Investment.
The hearing, "Educating our Educators: How Federal Policy Can Better Support Teachers and School Leaders," will take place at 9:15 a.m. CDT / 10:15 a.m. EDT at the Rayburn House Office Building. A live video stream will be available.
The hearing will be focused on the federal Higher Education Act and its role in improving educator preparation. In particular, Superintendent White will speak about the work Louisiana's educator preparation programs and public schools have undertaken to equip the next generation of teachers and school leaders with skills to be successful for their students. He will share Louisiana's story of Believe and Prepare and focus on the last five years of work to provide a full year's time in the classroom, under the tutelage of mentor educators, to all undergraduate students aspiring to teach.
