OneApp Main Round Open Now Through February 2018
NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The Recovery School District and the Orleans Parish School Board today announced the release of the 2018-2019 OneApp, the unified application New Orleans families use to transfer or enter local public schools of their choice. The centralized enrollment process helps ensure students have fair access to every participating school and that admissions criteria are clear, consistent and transparent.
All families who need a new school for the upcoming year, especially those with students rising to kindergarten and 9th grade, are encouraged to submit applications in the Main Round of the process to ensure the best chance of matching to one of their top school choices. The Main Round includes two deadlines: January 12, 2018 and February 23, 2018. January 12 is the early deadline for schools with selective admissions criteria, such as language immersion. February 23 is the standard deadline, which is used by the majority of participating schools.
Families can apply online at
www.EnrollNOLA.org or receive assistance filling out an application in-person at any of EnrollNOLA's three
Family Resource Centers, open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Families may also receive assistance at any branch of the New Orleans Public Library and at many participating schools.
The launch of the 2018-2019 OneApp process comes on the same day EnrollNOLA is publishing its
November 2017 Annual Report. The Annual Report, also available online now, details results from the 2017-2018 OneApp process, including participation and match rates for early childhood education programs and K-12 public schools, as well as information about school demand, student stability and more.
Highlights from the Annual Report include:
- Seventy-six percent of applicants were matched to one of their top three choices in 2017-2018. The overall match rate was 81 percent. The match rate was 97 percent for applicants who listed four or more schools in their applications.
- One hundred percent of kindergarteners who applied to their siblings' school were matched with their siblings. That's in addition to the 94 percent of sibling-applicants across other grades that matched into the same schools, and 84 percent of family-linked students successfully assigned.
- New geographic zones did not yield demand for schools close to home. New geographic priority zones were adopted for the 2017-2018 OneApp process. While the new zones are smaller and more intuitive, they did not result in increased in-zone choices. In fact, 62 percent of all choices were made outside of applicants' zones, and 70 percent of applicants listed more than one choice outside of their zones. Ninety-three percent of students who applied to only schools in-zone and who listed three or more choices were matched in-zone.
- Verification rates for new early childhood education applicants climbed across every age group. Eligibility for early childhood education programs serving students ages six weeks through four years is determined by factors like residency, age and income. In order to be matched to a program, applicants must submit documentation to verify their eligibility. In the 2017-2018 Main Round, new applicant verification rates increased five percent overall; 70 percent of all new early childhood applicants were verified.
