Press Conference to be Held on Joint Campus of Louisiana Schools for the Deaf and Visually Impaired at 9 a.m. CDT on Aug.23

BATON ROUGE, La. - On Friday morning, State Superintendent of Education John White will announce the new Superintendent of the Louisiana Special School District (SSD) during a press conference held on the joint campus of the Louisiana School for the Deaf (LSD) and the Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired (LSVI). 

The announcement follows a national search for a new permanent leader to guide the SSD as it fulfills its renewed vision to become a model of excellence in meeting the unique needs of the communities it serves.

The SSD was established by the Louisiana State Legislature to provide education to students housed in state or privatized facilities and hospitals. The SSD oversees LSD and LSVI and manages educational programs for eligible students enrolled in the Office of Youth Development, Office of Behavioral Health, Office of Developmental Disabilities, Department of Public Safety, and Corrections and privatized facilities across the state.
