Framework to Lay Foundation For Ensuring All Students Have Clear Path to Success

BATON ROUGE, La. - This week the Special School District (SSD) presented a strategic framework to the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) that sets a vision for improving the SSD schools, programs and services offered throughout the state. The presentation kicked off a timeline for receiving public comment through in-person listening sessions and an online survey that will conclude on November 8, 2018.
"I am honored to be called on to work with BESE and the Louisiana Department of Education and excited to undertake the challenges at the SSD associated with enhancing the services provided to individuals with low-incidence disabilities," said Interim Superintendent Dr. Pat Cooper. "The SSD strives to be a model of excellence in serving students with low incidence disabilities and needs. My team, representing all SSD schools and programs, has been working together to outline plans for how the SSD will accomplish this goal and we look forward to receiving additional feedback over the next month."
The strategic framework, titled "100 Percent In. 100 Percent Out," outlines the mission, vision and strategic priorities that inform the work of the SSD and establishes a set of goals for measuring progress.
Listening sessions will be held in Alexandria and Baton Rouge where the three state schools are located.
